On Meadowview Street by Henry Cole

I looked outside this morning at the mounting snow and decided I needed a book about green grass, flowers, and butterflies : ) so here we are on Meadowview Street!

Lexile:    500
Pages:    32
Ages:     4-8

Caroline has just moved to Meadowview Street.  But where is the meadow?  Or the view?  All she sees is a street full of yards with the grass mowed down to within an inch of its life.  Caroline starts small.  One day while her dad is mowing the lawn she discovers a small pink flower and asks him to mow around it and he agrees, secretly thinking "that's less mowing for me!"  She gets some sticks and string and makes a fence around her small wildflower preserve.  Then she discovers a second flower; and a third.  Her preserve is growing.  She keeps adding until Dad sells the lawnmower.

Does Caroline end up with her meadow?  Does Meadowview Street finally live up to its name?  Come to the library and check out a copy of On Meadowview Street and find out!  Or, as always, you can click here to reserve a copy for pick-up at your favorite branch.

Peace, Love, and Reading,
Miss Laurie
