Fernando lives in Granados, a small town in Guatemala.  There are 200 students in his tiny school  and two classes are seated two students per desk in a each room.  The walls don't even reach clear to the ceiling so you can hear all of the noise from the other classrooms.  This makes concentrating and learning very hard. Granados was in dire need of a new school but the money just wasn't there.

Another problem in Granados was trash - there was too much of it and nowhere to put it.  Plastic bottles and bags, papers, and other trash was everywhere you looked.

One crazy idea later, along with the teamwork of a teacher, a student body, and an entire town, the new school becomes a reality and the trash is a memory.

The Soda Bottle School is a true story. It's a great way to introduce your child to recycling as well as teaching the value of teamwork and thinking outside the box to make your dreams come true.

Happy Reading!
